Michael Schuster | A classy, particularly seductive purity of sweetly ripe cassis fruit to smell; full-bodied, fairly concentrated, fresh, moderately tannic—a fine balance; rich and ripe and fleshy, gently warm from its alcohol, but not at all excessive, good length across the palate, marked above all, as so often, by its pronounced fruit presence; this is a particularly elegant, stylish, deliciously fresh, relatively restrained expression of La Mondotte with an effortless length of mid-palate and a lovely fruit-cored, and fruit-fragrant finish. Less obviously solaire than it often is, much less “extractive” than it often used to be. Very nice indeed, in a more restrained style than usual. And all the nicer for it? 2028–50+.
