Simon Field | A luminous green-gold beacon, pallor at the rim; a nose of volcanic indifference, bacon fat and a tenacious viscosity; curd and chamomile, Doric in structure, posset and hints of peat. Unyieldingly dry, a plateau of unforgiving eloquence; almost tannic at the helm; long and resourceful; iodine and a whiff of woodsmoke. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Paler-hued than most of its peers in the first flight. Pure, limpid, pristine: a spotless and accurate rendition of the style, but without the layered complexities of the very best of its peers. Wholly satisfying, nonetheless: bready, soft, enticing, mushroomy. With time in the glass, the volume of aroma amplifies somewhat. Vivid, lively, and concentrated on the palate: deep, nutty, intense, searching. Again, this is not decked out with a clustered necklace of aromatic allusions, so less “Vin Jaune” and more “wine” than some, but the purity, length, and droiteur are exemplary. Very gastronomic. Further aromatic allusiveness may come with time, of course. | 91
Roy Richards | Pale gold and bright. Pure, precise nose. Some agrume, lemon marmalade. Lean, high acidity, elegant, some tannin. Good length. | 89
