Simon Field | Modern somewhat extracted in style, rich and powerful of inclination; soot, leather saddles, and fruits of the forest. Potent and fleshy, its indulgence tempered by finely wrought tannins and a precise dark-fruit profile, backed up by warming Mediterranean herbs and a robust, assured finish. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Very dark black-red; just opaque. Another very complex wine aromatically: dark red and black fruits, root spice, crushed kernels, sweet leather. Wild mushrooms emerge later. A little more forceful and exuberant than the aromatically fine-grained [Domaine de la Bouïssiere Gigondas], but every bit as good. Deep, weighty, concentrated, dense, and searching: a tight- packed wine that certainly needs time to begin to reveal its intricacies. Black fruits take the lead over red on the palate. Brooding and resonant. A huge amount here, and we won’t be able to gauge it fully for some years; terrifically exciting. | 94
David Williams | Intense, dense, hugely powerful, the force of the sun on a very hot Mediterranean summer’s day. Still quite tightly packed and upright with tannin, there’s a dark-cherry core that will expand into more as this wine ages, the alcohol rippling in the background. | 90
