Simon Field | Full-bodied, with a savory aromatic and impressive wine-dark coloration; a hint of volatility distracts a little from an obsidian core; the heat of darkness, a well-trodden path, maybe, floral and briny, an island culture writ large by structural integrity and an impressive attention to detail. Gastronomically friendly, but one may have to visit the mainland to find an appropriate match. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Dark, deep black-red. Sweet and warm, though subtle, too, with notes of menthol and pressed leaf: refined, perfumed, and convincing. Outstanding aromatic richness and refinement here; deeply satisfying, and very typical Grenache. The palate is exactly what this aroma suggests: quite a rich and raisiny style of Grenache, but balanced by firm tannins, depth, and extract. This is gutsy stuff, too. Satisfying and serious wine of considerable dimensions. Bravo. | 91
David Williams | A mouthful of blackberries of different ripeness—deliciously mixing the sweetly juicy and the just-this-side-of-tart. Wonderfully embracing texture, with ripe but grippy, sandpapery tannin, some salty freshness, and a long finish taking us back to the brambly bush. | 92
