BUY THE WINE

Simon Field | Smoky, intense, with redcurrant and strawberry, or maybe liqueur de fraise, to the fore. Alcohol-intense on the mid-palate, spice and pepper and a powerful kick at the back of the palate. The Clare Valley examples juxtapose firm acidity with a regal potency in a manner that is far from unimpressive. | 90

Andrew Jefford | Clear and bright. Sweet, warm, rounded, and tarry, though this lacks a little aromatic intricacy compared to the best of its peers. Menthol and camphor follow the tar. Mellow and resonant wine with ample secondary complexities, though it doesn’t seem to have the ambition and thrust of the best wines in this tasting. | 88

David Williams | Slightly hard-edged, candied fruit. Very commercial in style. | 84
