Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Firm, rich, vibrant blackberry nose, quite marked by new oak. But the fruit quality is lovely, and the aromas have real lift and poise. Supple, silky, concentrated, finely balanced, with considerable depth of fruit. Has intensity without seeming too extracted or worked. Has Margaux elegance and harmony, with great poise on the mid-palate and finish. This wine is going from strength to strength with each encounter. Very long, spicy finish. 18
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red. Coolly spicy. Crafted and elegant, but the fruit notes suggest the very edge of ripeness. Exactly as sketched by the aromatic profile, this is subtle, stealthy, cool-fruited, finely grained, deftly poised claret of petite build, providing much refreshment and intellectual charm in the short to medium term. Could perhaps have benefited from a day or two longer on the vine. 14.5
Michael Schuster: Refined, oak-cedary nose; elegantly balanced, middleweight claret with a firmly dry but not excessive oak tannin; long, delicate, scented, and refined in the mouth, and with a long, aromatic finish. New wood texture renders this a bit dry at present, but classy Margaux delicacy and scent here—very persistent. Will need time. 2012–25+. 16.5
