Simon Field | A murky color and funky nose betraying who knows what. A naturalistic rigor, maybe, or merely a lack of ability to make an agreeable wine? Either way, the producer has succeeded admirably. | 75
Andrew Jefford | Pale and bright. A little bit cheesy, but I hesitate to call it a fault. It’s not disagreeable (fresh white sheep cheese), and maybe that is the variety in the place. In the mouth, this is full, soft yet structured, lively, vivid, acid-balanced, secondary in terms of allusions (I’m still thinking of that delicious sheep cheese), bright and complex. Unique and authentic wine. It may be well off the mainstream path, but how much more would I rather drink this than another anodyne commercial Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay? For the record, the aromas evolve in the glass toward something more classically fruity, citrus and peach, and the wine continues to gain in stature every time I go back to it. | 91
Demetri Walters | Somewhat cloudy. A toasty nose and then a relatively neutral fruit palate. It doesn’t seem to be at all about the fruit, though—instead, about the texture and mouthfeel. A rather complex wine that seeks to redefine itself on the palate. But it could still benefit from a little more fruit expression. | 86
