Andrew Jefford: One of the two lightest-colored wines in its flight of six: red in hue with no purple darkening, and translucent. Warm red fruits though a little vague in contour; perhaps more redcurrant than either cherry or raspberry. Softly and mutedly attractive; haunting. On the palate, this is light, fine, and fresh, with redcurrants once again to the fore; pure and sustained, with some fine tannic shaping. A little bitterness adds cleanliness to the palate. Graceful, comely Pinot of depth and poise, though I wouldn’t give it extensive storage. | 91
Jasper Morris: The color shows the first signs of evolution, lightening up at the rim. Some elegant Pinot emerges on the nose, with a relatively prominent oak character on the palate, which leaves a drier edge to the finish, without subduing the fruit. Ready to drink now, and offers more concentration at the back of the palate than I expected. | 87
Catherine Petrie: Brilliant medium ruby, this 2017 has shaken off the purple hue of infancy. The nose is fresh and precise, with savory red-fruit characters and smoky minerality. The palate has a vibrant energy. It is the first 2017 of the morning and the gear shift is quite remarkable. Where the 2018s have richness and swagger, this has energy and focus. The tannins are grippy, with an elegant, attractive bitterness. They need a little time to melt into the wine, but the fruit concentration, freshness, and attack of this wine persuade me it should improve well from this already high level in the years to come. | 90
