Andrew Jefford: The better of the two bottles: Deep and full garnet, though translucent. Fragrant, spicy, and lifted, with yet again an exoticism and a perfumed flamboyance you never see in Sancerre; ripe raspberry and melon meets honey and gingerbread. Vivid, juicy, and fresh on the palate, though there is a marked line of bitterness, too, which somehow conflicts with that juicy acidity. Lots of flavory action but a strange, slightly conflicted style. Much to enjoy nonetheless, and it is still a fascinating Pinot in good shape for its age, with plenty in reserve.| 88
Jasper Morris: Full dark color. A powerful bouquet showing signs of volatility. The bouquet is not particularly pure and the volatile notes rather dominate the finish. A second bottle has purer, indeed agreeably concentrated, fruit, and the volatile aspect was dialled down. Indeed, it displays good energy for an Alsace Pinot of this relative maturity. | 87
Catherine Petrie: A lightly cloudy garnet. The aromas show a level of complexity unseen in many of its peers. A direct fruitiness in its strawberry lift, but there are further layers at play. A little stony minerality and some smoky nuance are followed by a long and finely- weighted palate. An elegant expression. | 90
