Andrew Jefford: Clear, light, and translucent cherry-red. Attractive fresh redcurrant fruits; bright and poised; a faint hint of tar, even something reminiscent of seaweed or “iodine.” Not a laser-locked “varietal” but an attractive and characterful scent; just a hint of snipped privet. Indeed, the longer you leave this in the glass, the more fragrant it becomes. Pure, bright, fresh, deep, with ample tannic support though AJ: Clear, light, and translucent cherry-red. Indeed, the longer you leave this in the glass, the more fragrant it becomes. Pure, bright, fresh, deep, with ample tannic support though without rusticity or overt grippiness, and a lovely resonant mature fruit flavor which almost surprises me from a 2018. Ample and full, without being overweight or strenuous, and the fruit flavors have an innate amplitude and complexity to them. Very convincing—and also perhaps the most “Sancerre” of the 2018 cohort in a traditional sense. | 92
Jasper Morris: Pretty pinkish purple color with an elegant perfume, no great suggestion of weight but attracts from first sniff. There is a little greenness behind. This is the least concentrated of the 2018 Sancerres, with a sweetness of fruit that is slightly at odds with the greener notes at the back of the palate. Time in the glass is not its friend. This is more how I remember red Sancerre from an earlier period. | 82
Catherine Petrie: Pale ruby with a slight cloudiness. Fresh, pleasant red-berry aroma with a restrained savory scent. The palate is light and crunchy, with fine tannins integrated with a clean acidity. A slightly green edge enrobes the strawberry-like fruit, and overall the palate is refreshing, but relatively short. Simple, but well-balanced and enjoyable young. | 82
