Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. Mature red- and black-fruit nose, with smoked meat, road tar, medicinal herbs, and dried herbs. Medium- to full-bodied palate, with moderate tannins and slightly overripe black fruit. A touch short on the finish. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Clear, light garnet-red. Warm, serene, rounded, and enticing aromas: lifted pomegranate and currant fruits, sweet calfskin and vellum, soft leather, moist licorice. The palate is soft and graceful, too, less allusive than the aromatic profile suggested but beautifully aged and very settled and open now, with fine-grained tannins and balletic acidity. I wouldn’t keep this for decades, but as a coherent, accessible, and finely detailed account of the vintage four years on, this is very attractive Barolo. Super drinking pleasure here. | 91
Michael Palij | Sauvage nose, including wild rose, blueberry, red currant and an earthy character that dominates this wine. The finish suffers from a lack of obvious fruit. Dusty and one-dimensional. | 86
