Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red. Alluring and expressive already, with an almost perfumed note to the shapely and harmonious black fruits; spice and tobacco, too. Graceful, serene, and ripely classic. Deep, vivid, and fresh on the palate, with ample poised, cusp-edge ripeness, giving the fresh blackcurrant a whirl or two of dark chocolate. Soft, tender tannins play second fiddle to the breeze of acidity. A prettier-than-usual Dame, one might say, but in this vintage Meyney has more weight and seriousness of intent. | 89
Michael Schuster | Closed, freshly ripe blackcurrant nose with a clear gravel backdrop; very nicely balanced, brisk, medium-full wine, with a fine, defining tannin; elegant, savory, ripe red fruit and gravel- imbued claret, with a moderate complexity, nice length of flavor, and good length of aftertaste. A very complete second wine—no suggestion, whatsoever, of “rain dilution” here. Will be delicious over many years. Tannins so fine that it’s accessible now, but no hurry. To 2030+. | 89
