Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark black-red. Red and black fruits in slightly gruff, inky style, with a cool streak to the perfumes. There’s more depth and tannic resource to this wine than many, but the fruit is very cool, and some drinkers may find it ungenerous and eventually a little pointed. Those who bemoan overripeness in modern Bordeaux may love this wine, by contrast. It’s certainly not unripe in any way, has been carefully vinified, and has better depth than many of its Margaux peers. It’s a fine Ferrière. | 90
Michael Schuster | Closed to smell, but ripe fruit clear and you sense the “matter”; fullish, fresh, fairly firm in tannin; freshly ripe in fruit, with a still chewy texture round a tasty core, and with good, light length; a quite muscular frame and, for the moment, a fairly chunky style of Margaux, which will need time to mellow. 2027–35+. | 89
