Andrew Jefford | Dark, saturated purple-black. Close-textured, warm, subtle, and multidimensioned, with sweet, complex fruit in which both the plum of Merlot and the raspberry of Cabernet Franc play their role. The four years have brought some tobacco fragrance; the oak is discreet and understated; there is some floral finesse, too. Harmonious ripeness with impressive complexity. On the palate, the wine is deep, concentrated, frank, firm, and dense, asking for longer in the cellar. The oak, though, is in balance, though that balance is relatively lively and arresting rather than the easy- drinking amplitude of riper vintages. Well hewn and serious wine from Angélus in ’15. | 91
Michael Schuster | A fine, restrained ripe fruit and mineral nose; full-bodied, finely tannic, a powerful but harmonious balance; sweetly ripe in fruit flavor, long, close-grained, and graceful within the fine, firm tannin, mouth-coatingly fragrant, stylish, polished top St-Emilion, with a lovely length of flavor, and an aftertaste to match. Very fine, Long-term, powerful yet refined wine. Give it at least a decade. 2030–50+. | 94
