Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark, saturated black-red. Sweetly alluring yet complex, too: creamy, plump, and allusive, with notes of vellum, honey, saffron, and soft raisin, as well as the core blackberry and plum. This has a more homogenous ripeness than the floral Hosanna, but better lightness and freshness than the slightly toffeed Trotanoy. Classic, fragrant, floating, gravel-soiled Pomerol aromatic charm here. It’s a fine La Fleur-Pétrus on the palate, and clearly a higher attainer in this vintage than the slightly oaky Hosanna. There’s great aromatic complexity on the palate as on the nose, with exuberant and untroubled ripeness. The acidity is lower than for many and the tannins a little more palpable, though it is hardly a chewy wine; plenty of grace and charm, too, in sweet and toothsome style. Expect more homogenous sweet ripeness than you will find on the fresh-ripe La Conseillante. | 93
Michael Schuster | A fine, subtle, fragrant nose; full-bodied, finely but firmly tannic, an excellent, long-term balance; a sweetly ripe, juicy core fruit here, long and fine and graceful to taste within the overall power, elegant, graceful, and very fruit-fragrant persistent. A wonderful La Fleur-Pétrus. But give it time. 2027–45+ | 94
