Stephen Brook | Although rather closed on the nose, one can still sense the power and lushness waiting to be unleashed. The palate is weighty and formidable without heaviness, very concentrated, voluptuous, and dense, with the spicy oak supporting the abundant stone fruits. Perhaps not the most typical Barsac, but still a great and consistent Sauternes, its completeness and splendour meeting all expectations. Long, oaky finish. | 96
Andrew Jefford | Deep full gold. This is hauntingly aromatic and very brightly fruited, fresh and gingery: a higher proportion of Sauvignon here or is it just the Barsac style? Anyway, pristine and clean and with lots of greenfruit, banana, and gingerbread appeal. Lively, fresh, tangy, long, and complex on the palate, with plenty of lift and thrust. The sugars barely seem any lower than Sauternais counterparts. What is different here in Barsac is that there is less fattiness, less adipose tissue in the wines, and they are less luxurious around the middle, while the fruit characters themselves are more brightly defined, and the wines carry more of a tang. This is a perfect example of all of that. | 93
