Stephen Brook | Apricot fruit, discreet oak, and elegant botrytis—all in harmony and balance on the nose. The palate is silky, with less density and power than Fargues often shows. That’s no bad thing, and the acidity keeps the wine on its toes, giving freshness as well as persistence. As with the other great 2015s, it’s the wine’s balance that is impressive, giving that unobtrusive harmony and length. Finely crafted, and will continue to improve for decades. | 96
Andrew Jefford | Mid- to deep gold. Wonderful levels of detail in this aroma, with its luscious fruit, ample botrytis character, toasted nut, honey, and beeswax notes, though just constrained by a slightly reductive note, too. On the palate, de Fargues is rich, deep, long, unctuous, full, almost earthy, with lots of mushroom and truffle. It’s so rich, indeed, that you barely notice the acidity, though it is in fact quite prominent. Masterly and compelling. | 93
