Neil Beckett | Pale lemon-gold. Aromatically captivating and intriguing in the enigmatic manner of youthful Corton-Charlemagne, with a faint smokiness and sweetness that seem to be reflections of the terroir and the vintage rather than any oak overlay from the wood (of which there are no negative tell-tale signs on the palate). There is better density and intensity here than in most other wines in its flight, with the cut and drive often missing this vintage; more remarkable for its focus and precision than for its scope, with more grand cru class than scale, but a drop of white gold from which the ripples should spread. | 92
