Simon Field: Squid black, heady and rather alcoholic; the attack of raspberry coulis and sugary dark- fruit jam is almost overwhelming; Boucher plump, Rubens plush... Maybe too much of a nearly very good thing? I have to say that I still found this one very hard to resist on the second tasting— self-discipline lacking a little bit, perhaps, after so many wines! | 88
Andrew Jefford: Saturated, deep black-red. Very sweet, fresh, and almost luridly fruity; the complete opposite to the aromas of the wine that preceded it [the Ramos Pinto 2015]. Sweet cherries in simple style. Light, simple, rather vulgar sweet-fruited flavors, alas, backed by solid tannins. | 83
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque; still open, rich, and opulent on the nose, ripe plum and cherry fruit, much the most aromatic of the ’15s in this lineup and glorious now; soft, voluptuous in style, glorious ripe morello cherry-fruit backed by firm, ripe tannins, can be enjoyed now but this has the structure and finesse to keep and develop for 20 or more years. | 93
