Simon Field: Deep and regal purple, Richelieu robes, Colbert color; a very attractive nose, almost tar and roses; dark fruit and violets, to be sure. Seductive and charming; the tannins are strident yet tame, the fruit intense yet subdued by the most youthful grip. Monolithic yet minutely tailored; a paradox of detailed persuasion. | 93
Andrew Jefford: Deep, saturated red-black with lots of purple in the tears that run down the sides of the glass. Aromatically, it is pure and lifted, incisive, cleanly defined and very promising, with ample sweet and savory notes alike. There’s a forest freshness here, too, or a note akin to woodchipped garden trimmings. Lots to give, surely. A very impressive wine on the palate: deep, ample, generous, its black cherry, bramble, and blackcurrant fruits full of spicy depths, graphite, and stone, and with a fresh, sappy urgency in there, too: energetic and vital. One of the most complete of its cohort, and certainly a wine for the longest term. Bravo. | 93
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque, dense, and closed on the nose, tight-knit, unyielding, with a huge amount to give, stony fruit. Solid, foursquare pepper and dark chocolate intensity, massive, dense, yet fine-grained tannins, hugely impressive all the way through, with lovely expression of fruit on the finish. One for the long haul. | 97
