Simon Field: Big color, amorphous slightly foursquare profile; savory, hints of prune and even resin; the palate is raw, unformed, youthful, and quite firm of acidity—nothing too negative in the ensemble, therefore, but it needs to knit together and it may take quite a while. | 89
Andrew Jefford: Saturated, dark black-red; opaque at the core. Lifted and fragrant, but the repertoire is more hillside and dry grass than fresh fruits; on the palate, the fruits (blackcurrant and blackberry) are more prominent, juicier and creamier. There are impressive tannins, too, so this is certainly the better of our two 2004s. This is a plush and generous wine. | 88
Richard Mayson: Very deep, dark, and opaque, withathin purple/crimson rim; intense, withdrawn, a hint of floral perfume but much more to give on the nose; rich, dense, berry fruit, lovely definition, backed by solid, tight-knit tannins, still a touch raw around the edges and needing time to come together, leading to a lovely vibrant finish. 2025–60. | 95
