Andrew Jefford | Saturated dark black-red. Along with Rauzan- Ségla, this Malscot St-Exupéry seems to have the finest aromatic profile in Margaux, at least at this stage of the wines’ evolutionary trajectory: ripe, sumptuous, sweet fruits with some faintly peppery depths and a floral complexity, too. It’s more exuberant than Rauzan-Ségla, if a little less refined; it’ll be better in two or three years. On the palate, the wine is ample, rounded, very soft, very graceful: a deft charmer, but deficient in nothing and with excellent concentration, ripeness and vivacity of fruit. A lovely drinking prospect here. 2018–23. | 90
Michael Schuster | Very sweetly ripe on the nose; rich and ample and firmly tannic—a long-term constitution; plenty of juicily sweet fruit to taste, long and complex and aromatic, but all within a fairly firm tannin texture; a muscular interpretation of Margaux, with good length, but a very individual style. Needs time to mellow. 2028–40+. | 92
