BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense black-red. Lots of sweet black plum and chocolate here: lush, heady, almost brandied, with palpable but not intrusive oak. Lively, deep, intense, with ample richness of black, sweet fruits, but quivering in terms of balance thanks to the searching, plunging acidity. A satisfying wine that doesn’t underdeliver in any sense, but that edginess and lunging quality won’t be to everyone’s taste. 2018–25. | 90

Michael Schuster | Warmly ripe and spicy to smell; full-bodied, fresh, powerful, tannic, a big wine! Intense in almost every respect: alcohol, flavor, acidity, tannin; strong, tasty, tannic, abundant; length and savor, yes, but force and fire, too. Impressive, and with good length. Quite how agreeable a “drink” this will be is another matter—it’s quite strong stuff for claret! Needs a decade at least. 2030–45+. | 92
