Stephen Brook | As so often, Bastor is blank on the nose, with little botrytis in evidence and not much else either. It lacks concentration on the palate, which is appley and rather slack. Aimed at a different market from the high-priced classed growths, Bastor can never meet the highest expectations, but this lacks character and energy. Medium length, and not for long cellaring. | 84
Andrew Jefford | Pale gold. Some fresh white mayflowers give the lemony sweetness a lift here: lots of floral charm here. Very attractive, fresh, and insinuating. Lively and poised on the palate; pristine in character, though without huge weight and unction. There’s a fresh acid balance, and those wild white-flower notes persist into the finish. Best drunk sooner rather than later. 2018–22. | 86
