Stephen Brook | There are subdued orange and barley-sugar aromas here, but at present they don’t leap from the glass. Nor is the new oak that used to be a feature of these wines particularly apparent. The palate is brightly fruity yet lacks a little concentration, though it’s sustained by fine acidity. Less unctuous than some past vintages from here, it has welcome finesse if no great complexity at the moment. Balanced, long, and stylish, but it’s all a bit cautious. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Deep honey gold. Perfumed and lifted, with lots of honeysuckle, cream, lemon, and flower honey; even a little jasmine freshness too. Very cleanly attractive. The palate is rather richer than the aromas suggest at present: deep and lush, with ample tangy honey, lemon, apricot, and buttered apple. Another Sauternes just at the beginning of its journey, with much more articulacy to come over the next decade. Fabulous depth and generosity here. 2018–28. | 94
