Alison Buchanan: Green-tinged, amber-mahogany, this presents the aromas of Christmas cake, slightly overdone, dried fruit and spice. The palate offers liquid mince pies, chocolate raisins, and caramelized orange zest—rather lovely. This is such a treacherous area in which to achieve balance, but it is beautifully done here, if still somewhat hedonistic. Mocha richness and dried fruit are complemented by a citric lift, finishing with elegant, poised aplomb. | 94
Andrew Jefford: We’re now edging toward ebony, though the light still gets through this wine. Richly perfumed aromas: tangerine, orange, and bergamot all seamlessly layered together— completely enchanting. On the palate, too, this is a beautifully tutored wine, with pristine aromas, huge generosity of sweetness, and nascent complexities. It’s just a little warm and abrupt toward the end, but in every other respect this is outstanding fortified Muscat. | 91
Margaret Rand: Coffee and chocolate, very rich and fruitcakey and powerful: the most alcoholic fruitcake ever. Concentrated and very impressive. Lots of layers of flavor; nuts, toast, dried figs. Good freshness. | 90
