Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | Power as expected, withatouch of austerity, no doubt temporary, with unmistakable tannic foundations. Wait patiently for as long as necessary. | 95
Michael Schuster | Closed and very finely mineral to smell; rich, focused, beautifully silken-textured tannins, and with a perfectly judged freshness of acidity, a superbly effortless balance; rich, fleshy, succulent, effortlessly long and complex to taste, great tenacity of flavor, generous without being heavy, just such a beautifully contained richness, and with terrific persistence. What Cabernet Sauvignon can be, fully ripe, on an exceptional terroir. So complete, so seductive. Quite magnificent Mouton, which will be a wonderful wine for those lucky enough to drink it fully mature. 2033–60+. While tasting with him, Phillipe Dhalluin said, “Je suis très content du millésime” (I am very happy with the vintage). Well might he say so, as every wine of his this year is something special. And it is interesting to note that from 2014 he decided to harvest 48 hours earlier than he did a decade ago, making for wine from fully ripe grapes, but with greater freshness and energy, too. It shows... It tastes! | 97–99
