BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster | Slightly gamey Merlot to smell; light and fresh, with a most discreet tannin; freshly ripe, gently sweet, easy, flowing, fragrant wine, long, supple, sapid, and graceful, and with excellent length. Not grand, but deliciously drinkable, a fine traditional St-Emilion of yore. Very nice indeed. Will be accessible early. Now made by Pierre-Olivier Clouet of Cheval Blanc, the vineyard is a gravelly alluvial soil, within greater Libourne, and the wine is vinified without any new oak, aged instead in older 500-liter barrels and 20hl foudres. It is, stylistically, the very antithesis of the Parker-pleasing garage style of previous owner Alain Reynaud. And it is all the better for it, I would certainly say. 2022–32+. | 89–91
