AJ | Deep black-red though not opaque. Warm, sweet and fresh, with delicious curranty-cherry fruit and grand refinement. Very perfumey: orange peel and petitgrain. You'd guess Margaux, actually, I'm sure. A totally captivating nose here on a wine which won't cost the proverbial. Bright, pure, restrained and refined -- this little piece of land is lucky to be in this ownership, as it has teased it towards its optimum. This is not the deepest or most driving St Emilion this year, but it is one of the most charming and graceful. Like fine-wine patisserie in the mouth in terms of finesse and elegance, though of course the fruit is light, fresh and darting in best 2021 style. Drink Dates: 2027 - 2035. 90
SF | Saturated ruby red, with a narrow rim. Aromatics of wild strawberry quince, iodine and sea breezed; then an elegant red fruit character informs the palate, behind that bergamot tea , verbena and crushed fruit. Chalky tannins are discrete in the face of a light texture; the finish is eloquent and long however. An impressive piece of winemaking to fit the vagaries of this awkward vintage. Drink Dates: 2027 - 2036. 91
