Neil Beckett | A village lieu-dit, with chalk (hence the name) as well as clay, near the border with Volnay, which may help explain its elegance. Sadly, only two pièces in 2016, but eight in 2017. Deep ruby. A light reduction, but the nose still reveals dark, ripe, vivid fruit (all destemmed here). Fine-drawn, ripe tannins make this very velvety for young Pommard, but there is also plenty of supportive structure and invigorating freshness. Value. | 90
