BUY THE WINE

Bruno Besa | Garnet to pink. Open black- and red-fruits nose, with intense floral character, youthful and mineral. Medium to full body, with rich, layered fruit. Long and compact finish. Needs time to show its best. | 94

Stephen Brook | Hefty nose, with heady red fruits and some oak influence. Rich and broad-shouldered with mighty tannins. Imposing but a bit of a bruiser. This lacks a light touch, but the brutality is not inappropriate for Monforte. Power it’s got, but not finesse. Long but chunky finish. | 86

Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark, clear black-red. A little bit earthy and grunty on the nose. Not unpleasant, but it lacks sweetness and freshness. Dusty, too. Rather brutal tannins and a fruit style that lacks poise and finesse. Lots here, to look on the bright side. | 83
