AJ | Clear, deep black-red to garnet at the rim. Just a touch dry, aromatically speaking; very pure fruits, though. Almost burgundian purity here, and with a savoury undertow, too. To my surprise, the palate is a much richer affair, with softly contoured but fleshy fruits: very delicious. Chunky tannins and a coasting aromatic warmth carries the palate. A super wine with lots to give over the medium term, and I suspect there may be further aromatic developments ahead, too.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2035. 92
BB | Deep garnet to range. Ripe, earthy, animal, leather, sweet tobacco, road tar, black prunes nose. Full body, big tannins, sweet black fruit, long and mineral. A muscular yet balanced BaroloDrink Dates: 2030 - 2040. 94
MP | A richly aromatic wine with ripe back cherry, black plum, liquorice, tar accompanied by cedar, sandalwood and the first hint of oxidation. On the palate there isn't nearly sufficient fruit to balance the huge weight of tannins even if the acidity is moderate. A ponderous and ungainly wine.Drink Dates: 2023 - 2025. 89
