Stephen Brook: Rich powerful nose, heady with extract; peaches. Rich, super-ripe, powerful, packs a punch. Good acidity, but there seems to be a lot of alcohol here. Splendid fruit but a bit overbearing. Nonetheless, a flamboyant. spicy Riesling with real personality and persistence. 18

Jancis Robinson: Smells as though there's a whiff of botrytis! Very big and bold - makes a strong impression of lots of alcohol and ripe fruit, but one could do with slightly racier acidity. Already easy to enjoy, though. Quite arresting for its opulence and glamour. A little bit too heavy to convince me it has long-term potential. but good for now. 15

Alexander Scott: This feels as though it's striving for an even greater ripeness, and perhaps achieving it, but in grapes grown on a less noble terroir. There is not the sheer effortlessness and class of the Dr von Bassermann-Jordan Deidesheimer Kalkofen and Christmann Deidesheimer Hohenmorgen wines. Having said all that, this is an immensely attractive and potentially taffeta-textured dry Riesling that has all it takes to turn on a new generation to these wines. 16.5
