Simon Field: Big colour, youthful nose, hints of orange blossom behind a rather mute fapade. Palate has plenty of fruit, a medium intensity, edgy acidity and a spicy finish, shrouded in tannin. Clearly well made; somewhat reticent at the m oment, which is probably a virtue. 16

Richard Mayson: Good opaque colour. Ripe but slightly baked brambly fruit on the nose and in the mouth, with firm, ripe tannins to back it up. Bit tough, foursquare, but with a vibrant finish. Very promising. 15

Jancis Robinson: Deep blueish purple. Good depth of colour. Clean, neat, refreshing, very positive, but seems, on the nose, relatively dry. Nice pepper, tea leaves, very intense with masses of ripe fruit, but masses of ripe tannin too. Lovely dry black pepperiness on the finish. Masses of everything. A very long-distance runner indeed. 17
