Alison Buchanan: Black plum to garnet cherry rim, this is intensely coloured and rather youthful in appearance. The nose hints at pretty feisty extraction, right down to the splinters. There are slightly herbaceous notes that are echoed on the palate. Colour and muscle seem to be the aim here. Certainly it is ripe and rich in intense, dark fruit, but even coated in glycerol the tannins appear a little out of kilter, bringing down the score. 16

Jancis Robinson: Red. Elegant, warm, spicy, subtle, lovely structure, big fruit, big tannins, excellent balance. Delicious, complex structure. Outstanding. 18.5

Jeremy Watson: Rich ruby, with herbs and spices on the nose. Great structure, with beautifully balanced fruits and tannins in the mouth and a potentially long life. 18.5
