Alison Buchanan: Nose Gewürztraminer-esque: definite spiced character there, and that – combined with oak – has produced something quite extraordinarily full, rich and almost unrecognisable as a Chardonnay. Spiced, buttery, stone-fruit, toasted notes and crème brûlée offset by spice. Weird, intriguing… yet why? 12.5
Nicolas Belfrage: Doesn’t smell like Chardonnay, nose being aromatic (Gewürz, Viognier?). But very well-made wine, pungent of nose and full and balanced on palate, with good acid and plenty of Alsace-style flavour. Impressive and highly drinkable, just not typical. 16
Alex Hunt: Very pretty peach/melon/floral nose – happily stops short of tinned fruit salad. Real poise and polish on the palate. Very sensuous, textural wine that combines an Italianate almond character with a refreshingly individual expression of the grape. 16.5
