Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep, fine-grained colour, with aromas that com e right out of oak and good fruit. Firm acid and tight, fine tannins, with good chewy fruit that gives this good type, density and length. A serious contender. 16.5

Stephen Brook: Deep red. Hefty, toasty nose, a bit stewed and confected. Soft and plump, and it doesn’t taste like pure Sangiovese. A touch extracted but the tannins aren’t harsh. Burly and lacks finesse, but a good mouthful of fruit, with quite good length. 15.5

Alison Buchanan: Very black - almost but not quite opaque, with a very tight garnet rim. Boiled-sweets nose - cherries, polish and spice. Chewy but ripe tannins that are well integrated. Very concentrated, rather confected style. 16
