BB | Garnet to pink. Open, earthy, meaty, black fruits, smoke and tobacco nose. Compact, youthful, layered, bitter cherries and vanilla palate with long finish. Needs time to show its best.Drink Dates: 2026 - 2035. 93
AJ | Dark black-red though clear and limpid. Very attractive scents of roasted fruits, warmed wood and hot fields: summer in a glass. But very composed and painterly, too, as Brunello always is. Other wines are aromatically fresher than this, but here is the full summer charge. Almost dense and grippy for a fully aged Brunello, and much of the flavour, too, seems to seep from those splendid and articulate tannins. Mid-levels of concentration; a little less layered and nuanced than some. But super-gratifying and will hold well.Drink Dates: 2027 - 2037. 92
MP | Evolved nose with mature notes of tobacco, dried meat, forest floor, cooked cherry and plum. Bit parts are played by hawthorn, cranberry and baking spice. On the palate this has high alcohol and an exotic note of incense, sandalwood and star anise. There's a decent lick of acidity, melded tannins and excellent persistence but it has a character atypical for the region. Be that as it may, there's plenty of 'drink-now' pleasure to be found here. An excellent restaurant Brunello as this is unlikely to make old bones.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2030. 95
