Andrew Jefford: Full yellow -gold with a green glint. Warm, forthcoming, ample, vivid and vigorous, but not a lot of precise fruit definition here. The fruit characteristics are unusually tropical for Germany - the mango and guava of Australian Riesling is really not too far away. Intense, vivid, very pure, less ripe in terms of balance and structure than the aromas suggested. Quite good aromatic depth on the palate; long and invigorating fruit flavours. 16

Simon Larkin : Hue by no means dissimilar to the Holle Auslese. Ripe apple on the nose. The palate echoes the same fruit nature, with real green-apple bite. No great breadth, a very linear style with piercing green-apple acidity. Slightly one-dimensional, fairly austere juice. Aggression in the finish. Piercing is the overriding adjective. 12.5

Alexander Scott: Again a hint of bottle -stink, arom as currently discreet. This is initially similar to the Franz Kunstler Hocheim er Holle Auslese, but on the palate there is a darker side, more youthful austerity, a longer hold on the attention and plenty of drive. The same sort of naturalness as the Holle Auslese and Alte Reben. This is potentially very fine wine. It is not easy to see the complexity at its present stage, but I feel it will come. 17.5
