Simon Field: Slightly mute colour presages - inevitably - a clumsy, simplistic and uncomplicated example that falls well short of its peers. 10
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-purple, medium viscosity. Attractive tar and tea-leaf scents of a good classic Vintage Port just getting into its stride. A touch of cinnamon. Vivid, relatively deep, some meaty depths here, the tannins very well incorporated and fruit evolving with great beauty. First-class Vintage Port mid-life, my only qualm being that it is a little bit more evolved for the ten-year mark than I would have expected from the very greatest. 16.5
Richard Mayson: Mid-deep ruby centre, purple rim. A strange nose - woolly, stewed, not quite clean. It tastes fresher with some ripe, fleshy fruit, but a little too simple and one-dimensional to score highly. 12
