Simon Field: Rich broad colouring. A spicy, slightly closed nose with hints of forest floor and cedar. Quite spirity and robust. On the palate, the structure has notes of coffee and spice. The tannins are pleasantly integrated and the finish is classy and has a dry, fulfilling grip that compliments the overall structure.15
Andrew Jefford: Dark, clear wine; leggy but has lost its opacity now. Sweet, calm, clear and fresh, withatouch of savoury development, but lacks real aromatic firepower - relatively discreet. Well-made Port, with a fat, sweet, tannin-bolstered style. Full and frank, with a cleanly meaty aftertaste. 14
Richard Mayson: Mid-deep ruby centre, thin purple rim. Withdrawn on the nose with more to give. Fine, firm, peppery fruit, with good purity of flavour and spicy tannins lingering on to the finish. Again a good middle-distance wine. Drink in 3-5 years' time; will develop well over the next ten. 15
