Simon Field: Quite an evolved colour. The nose is quite vinous and lacks aromatic complexity and persistence, but it possesses a warm come-hither quality that is translated into the palate. Not overwhelmed by complexity, but a very satisfactory example from a vintage that can charm with a gentle vigour. 16
Andrew Jefford: Some purple among the reds. Warm, sweet, rounded, but vague, unpolished and unfocused. A decent stab at the vintage, with the rather incisive and brisk style that the fruit has, backed by relatively generous tannins. This is a well-crafted, well-built Port that will please its drinkers and deliver on almost every front, though it won’t quite lift the roof for them. Everything one hopes for, but not quite (as one always hopes) a bit more. 16.5
Richard Mayson: Good mid-deep colour, with a pink/purple rim. Again closed, withdrawn and tight on the nose. It needs time to open. Lovely fruit. Firm tannins with some flesh but rather raw and austere on the finish. A bit one-dimensional. 13.5
