Simon Field: Elegant colour with pleasing gradation. Tertiary aromas, with hints of kirsch and even mandarin behind the raisins. Forthcoming and straightforward; nice weight and texture, unencumbered by complication, and perhaps a touch syrupy. Drinking now, best for those with a sweetness of temperament. 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Fully evolved but bright and pinging. Sweet, soft, a little subdued now, a little cowed by the years. A gentle, elegant, almost milky style. Lovely fruit qualities, very choice and ripe and unfolded. Toothsome and delicious. Undoubtedly a success - though it's up on top of the hill and contemplating the journey down. 17
Richard Mayson: Another very good deep colour, garnet centre, with a pink/tawny rim. Again quite withdrawn. Needs time to open and I suspect that this wine has more to give. Another very rich, ripe, youthful wine with fabulous morello-cherry fruit and bitter-chocolate power and concentration. Rich tannic backbone with a finish that combines power and elegance in equal measure, 18.5
