Tim Atkin : Colour still vibrant and youthful for a 1995. Leafy, developed nose with well-integrated oak and attractive secondary characters. Palate complex with firm tannins, sweet, minty fruit and good length. Still developing. 16.5
Oz Clarke: Good deep red, slight age. On the palate, good. It’s deep, dry, but ripe. Full, dark, nicely balanced between tannin and acid and rich black fruit and some black, chocolaty oak. This is deep, serious stuff, black chocolate and dark plum and a little herbs. But, despite being ready for another 10 years ageing, this is a seriously good drink now. Full black fruit, good tannin, low acid, a touch of nut-husk flatness. But the basic effect is of a full, rich, serious red, ripe but with years to go. 17.5
Michael Schuster: Deep, youthful black red; dense cedar and ripe blackcurrant nose, full-bodied, tannic wine; sweet ripe fruit dominated by its tannic frame (too much new oak for the available fruit?) - good fruit always likely to be pinched by excessive oak dryness. 15.5
