Tim Atkin : Some development at rim. Notes of volatility on nose and a faintly Porty character. Plum jam? Palate vulgar and overalcoholic. Finishes dry and hot. A wine that was picked too late. 12.5
Oz Clarke: Fairly deep. Indistinct but fairly ripe nose. On the palate, rather stony, and the fruit is red rather than black. I don’t feel it’s fully ripe. This is nice, a certain tannic dryness but it isn’t tough. Some pleasantly mature toffeeish oak and not fully ripe redcurrant fruit - and a hint of mint. Nice wine. Not special. Later, a little red cherry-skin fruit and fair acid. 15
Michael Schuster: Dark red; dumb nose - oak vanilla and blackberry fruit there, though; medium-full wine, fairly concentrated but with a marked added acid ’edge’; Cabernet fruit dominated by the acidity, making the wine short and pinched to taste. 14
