Simon Larkin : Deep, opaque, revealing tightly wound aromatics. The palate shows intensity, with fine deep red fruits and black cherry. There are firm drying tannins that close down expression. Beyond the structure there is a fine core of deep-natured fruit. A sound effort, if a little over extracted. 13.5

Nicolas Belfrage: Super-deep colour, unlikely for a pure Nebbiolo. Again the plumy berry fruit on nose, pleasant but not typical. Good wine but not Barolo in style, plumy fruit, no great structure in terms of tannin, acid, short. Not typical of '96 Barolo. 12
