Michael Schuster: An impressively dense blackberry and blackcurrant nose; rich, dense, fresh, finely tannic; its mere 13% or so notwithstanding, this is a wine of seemingly immense proportions, yet delicate and subtle impressions; very sweet-cored, and yet so fresh, too, very close-grained, with an abundance of beautifully defined sweet black fruit, all within a particularly polished tannin texture. This is wonderfully prolonged across the palate, mouth-coating, aromatic, enormously satisfying, with a finish full of sweet fruit and very subtle mineral aromas. A most complete, a great, and very grand Mouton, making the 2015 and 2016 a quite magnificent pair, and the ‘14 is no slouch! 2035–55+. 98–100
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: An immense success and a near-perfect expression of the terroir. Exemplary extraction of the tannins. Unique length and brilliance at this stage in Médoc. 98–99
