BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Superb northern Médoc Cabernet-based wines, firm and fresh, ripening late under blue skies and a fresh north wind. An early bouquet of sweet red fruit, a fine earthiness, a hint of undergrowth, and a bouquet that developed beautifully as it sat in the glass; a rich, vigorous, medium-weight claret with a lively acidity, a very nice fruit concentration, and a fine, firm tannin, a balance of attractive, early maturity; long and tasty, closed-grained, subtly earthy Cabernet flavor, relatively mellow and mature for the firm ’96 style, just starting to drink beautifully and with lovely persistence. Now to 2036+.
