Stephen Brook: Much darker gold than most, but this is often the case at Nairac. Very rich nose of oranges and barley sugar, evident botrytis, honey. This is sumptuous indeed, if atypical for Barsac. Very sweet for Barsac, and clearly picked at exceptionally high sugar levels. Has intensity and pungency; notes of orange and crème brûlée. Although not exceptionally long, this has formidable concentration without being overbearing and the fruit is sustained onto the finish. 17.5
Michael Schuster: Deep gold; marked, raisiny botrytis to smell, a little “wood dry,” too; rich and concentrated, and with a very lemony supporting acidity, too; intensely sweet, but vital, vivid flavor, subtle, racy, with a clear underlying minerality, and a marked botrytis spice complexity, and a Barsac restraint for all its richness; long in the mouth and long and aromatic to finish. Superb Nairac. Best from 2013. 17.5
