Michael Schuster: Dense, minerally, black-fruit ripe to smell; concentrated, fresh, finely tannic, perfectly constituted; intense in ripe fruit, subtly gravelbacked, freshly sweet, linear and pure, within gently sinewy but very polished tannins; great tenacity of flavor, overall an impression of abundance and yet restrained elegance, too, with no excess whatsoever; complex, energetic, and with exceptional fruit and aromatic persistence. A beautiful and beautifully complete wine. Great La Mission. 2030–50+. 95–97
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: As early as its birth, one perceives the smoky aromas, so typical of Pessac. One can only admire the roundness and tenderness that make this wine more accessible than Haut-Brion, but with a less monumental tannic structure. 96–97
